Viva Las Vegas

I spent this past weekend in Las Vegas for a professional boxing event, my husband is a huge fan of the sport. As always the shopping in Las Vegas is amazing! I managed to find some great pieces, the blouse and bag from this post are among them. (I will be posting pictures with my other finds soon). Boxing events are different than other sporting events because they can be more glamorous, and most women who attend dress for a night out on the town. Here is my outfit for the night...

Balboa Boho

Last week my hubby and I decided to take our pup Khloe for a walk at Balboa park. This local area is filled with museums and beautiful gardens, as well as gorgeous architecture. We ate lunch and wandered around for a while. Here are some snap shots we took on that windy afternoon. The faux fur vest was one of my great finds while in Las Vegas in September.

Halloween!

Halloween was always been one of my favorite childhood holidays! The chance to be whatever you wanted was so much much fun. Even now the possibility of becoming a totally different person for a night is exciting. Today I made this tutu out of tulle and an elastic band for my halloween costume. This type of tutu is very easy to make, NO SEWING REQUIRED! All you need is the following:

1. About 75-100 pre-cut sheets of tulle (depending on how thick you want the skirt to be). Any color is fine, you can also mix and match. The length should be determined by how long you would like the skirt to be X2 + inches for the knots. (for ex. you want a 10inch skirt, the strips should be 22inch long) and the width should be about 4 inches.
2. A 3/4" band of elastic about 6 inches shorter than your waist measurement. (The elastic will stretch as you tie on the tulle)

Sew the elastic together at the ends so that it forms a band 6 inches smaller than your waist measurement. Next take a sheet of tulle and place it under the waist band so the band is in the middle of the strip. Bring both ends of the tulle together and make sure they're even. Tie a snug knot (make sure its not too tight! It shouldn't fold the elastic) on the elastic, then make sure the ends are still even and tie a second knot. Finally push the knot toward the bottom edge of the elastic. Continue doing this around the elastic until you've reached the desired thickness... and voila! You've got a beautiful tutu!

Here is what the knots are supposed to look like:

.....and here is the finished product. Can you guess what I'm going to be for Halloween?

Equestrian Chic

I hope you enjoy my first ever outfit post! I am still getting used to this so I hope you have some patience with me while I learn how to improve. I've been a bit overwhelmed with school and work lately so it has been difficult to dedicate some time to a post. With the new winter collection making its way into my store I begin to think about the holidays that are so close! Along with the holiday weather, come festive dresses, scarves, coats and boots! The weather here in San Diego is generally very sunny, so its hard to notice the change in seasons but I can still manage to have fun with some winter trends. Please let me know if there is anything else you like to see in my posts. I enjoy any feedback :)

A Mini Vacation

Recently, Edgar (my husband) and I decided to hop on a plane and take a quick trip to Las Vegas for a couple of days. We met up with some friends and had an amazing time. Las Vegas is a marvelous city with so many things to see and do! I had a chance to do some quick shopping during our trip and will be posting pics of my finds soon! Here are some pictures of our great view from the hotel balcony!

BCBG MAX AZRIA 2012

After a rough start on Fashions Night Out here in San Diego, (Southern California experienced a major power outage that lasted almost 12 hours, and as a result most events were cancelled) I was finally able to watch several shows from New York. My favorite styles so far have been from the BCBG MAX AZRIA runway. Color blocking was strong in his designs, as well as many tribal elements with a pop of bright colors. What do you think?
