Halloween!
Halloween was always been one of my favorite childhood holidays! The chance to be whatever you wanted was so much much fun. Even now the possibility of becoming a totally different person for a night is exciting. Today I made this tutu out of tulle and an elastic band for my halloween costume. This type of tutu is very easy to make, NO SEWING REQUIRED! All you need is the following:
1. About 75-100 pre-cut sheets of tulle (depending on how thick you want the skirt to be). Any color is fine, you can also mix and match. The length should be determined by how long you would like the skirt to be X2 + inches for the knots. (for ex. you want a 10inch skirt, the strips should be 22inch long) and the width should be about 4 inches.
2. A 3/4" band of elastic about 6 inches shorter than your waist measurement. (The elastic will stretch as you tie on the tulle)
Sew the elastic together at the ends so that it forms a band 6 inches smaller than your waist measurement. Next take a sheet of tulle and place it under the waist band so the band is in the middle of the strip. Bring both ends of the tulle together and make sure they're even. Tie a snug knot (make sure its not too tight! It shouldn't fold the elastic) on the elastic, then make sure the ends are still even and tie a second knot. Finally push the knot toward the bottom edge of the elastic. Continue doing this around the elastic until you've reached the desired thickness... and voila! You've got a beautiful tutu!
Here is what the knots are supposed to look like:
.....and here is the finished product. Can you guess what I'm going to be for Halloween?

Equestrian Chic
I hope you enjoy my first ever outfit post! I am still getting used to this so I hope you have some patience with me while I learn how to improve. I've been a bit overwhelmed with school and work lately so it has been difficult to dedicate some time to a post. With the new winter collection making its way into my store I begin to think about the holidays that are so close! Along with the holiday weather, come festive dresses, scarves, coats and boots! The weather here in San Diego is generally very sunny, so its hard to notice the change in seasons but I can still manage to have fun with some winter trends. Please let me know if there is anything else you like to see in my posts. I enjoy any feedback :)
